Lovi, Solenn to move to TV5

Tinsel town is now abuzz with talks of Lovi Poe’s and Solenn Heussaff’s impending transfer to TV5 from GMA-7, as their current contracts are about to end.

If this pushes through, GMA-7 will lose in July three of its brightest stars to a rival network that had wanted to purchase the TV network dubbed ‘Kapuso’ (One Spirit).

Showbiz insiders say that the singer-comedian Ogie Alcasid is also considering going to TV5, dubbed ‘Kapatid’ (Sibling) TV network, although he remains mum on the issue.

“I can’t issue any statement about it at this time,” he told entertainment writer Gerry Ocampo, of the Pilipino Mirror, today. “My contract with GMA-7 expires in June.”

TV5 and the country’s top two television networks, GMA-7 and ABS-CBN, are competing in getting the best talents the entertainment industry has.

Last year, the business and entertainment sectors were rocked by moves by TV5 to purchase GMA-7, in order to fight ABS-CBN as a bigger combined media entity. The attempted merger did not push through.

Daughter of the late legendary action star Fernando Poe Jr, Lovi, whose real name is Lourdes Virginia Moran Poe, is an award-winning actress and singer known for playing the role of Kristal in the movie ‘Bakekang’.

She recently got in trouble with the government censors board over a dance number she and Rocco Nacino did at one of the episodes of ‘Party Pilipinas’ (Philippines Party), a weekly musical variety show on GMA-7, where they simuated on bed what appeared to be a sexual act.

Besides having a television contract with the Kapuso network, the French-Filipino Heussaff also has existing recording contract with MCA Universal Philippines and movie contract with Regal Entertainment.

From August 30 to December 3, 2010, the actress-video jockey-TV host-model-singer-fashion designer-makeup artist was one of the official castaways of ‘Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Showdown’, which aired on GMA-7.
