Plane evacuated after iPhone catches fire: reports

Fully charged phones could come in for additional scrutiny from airport safety officials following reports of an incident where an iPhone caught fire on a passenger flight on Saturday

The incident occurred on a flight bound from the Middle East to Prague in the Czech Republic

The website notes that the phone was inside the bag when it caught fire. The flight was still parked at the terminal and was about to taxi towards the runway.

More than 150 passengers who were on board the flight were evacuated and moved into the terminal building.

The girl`s mother who spoke to a local TV channel is reported to have told officials that she first saw the fire from the handbag.

The smoke spread throughout the cabin causing panic among passengers.

A Slovakian tech site that focuses on Android news, called Android Portal, reported the incident and posted an image claiming it to be the burnt iPhone.

A UPS cargo flight that took off from the United Arab Emirates to Germany crashed on September 3, 2010 as a result of fire from lithium batteries.
