Qatar Airways plane suffers bird strike

Qatar Airways confirmed that Flight QR240 which left Thursday from Istanbul Ataturk Airport to the Hamad International Airport returned to Istanbul and landed safely after one of its engines caught fire.

In a statement on its Twitter, Qatar Airways said that all passengers disembarked from the plane as normal. The pilot followed all safety procedures, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).

It added that the aircraft made an emergency landing at Istanbul's Ataturk airport on Thursday shortly after takeoff.
