Several emirates of the UAE saw rainfall yesterday – with the intensity varying from heavy to outright thunderstorms.

Yesterday night (November 1, 2014) Ajman and several areas in Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah were wet.

The rain was much more severe in Kalba and Khorfakkan, with water from the seas of Oman affecting coastal areas.

Dubai

A fierce burst of rain hit parts of Dubai at approximately 7.40pm today (Saturday, November 01, 2014). After a weekend of mostly clear weather in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with the day temperatures making for near-perfect beach weather, the evening gave way to clouds and then heavy rain, catching many a motorist unaware.

Several motorists were caught unawares by the sudden rain.

Yesterday, some areas in the emirate of Sharjah also saw rain, accompanied by winds and dust. Vehicle traffic flow on several was affected for nearly three hours. The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has warned drivers and sea-goers of low visibility due to dust.

Ras Al Khaimah

RAK witnessed heavy rains in most parts of the emirate which saw water running off mountain valleys in the southern regions of the emirate. Strong wind speeds also led to trees and billboards falling. Fishing was stopped in all ports of the emirate.

Fujairah
Torrential rain lashed several places in Fujairah which led to some dams being full.

At least one person was rescued in the Wadi Al Basera area by police. There was limited damage due to falling rocks on the Dibba Massafi road.
