10-day-old dead baby girl denied burial

Residents of a Saudi village refused the burial of a 10-day-old girl on the grounds she does not belong to their tribe, a newspaper reported on Saturday.

Relatives had put the body in a coffin and headed for the cemetery to bury her but they faced opposition by the residents of the village near the southern town of Baha.

“The baby’s father said they buried her in another cemetery nearly 15 km away after the villagers refused her burial on the grounds they do not belong to their tribe and they are originally not from the village,” the Arabic language daily Ajel said.

Woman claims she can resurrect the dead

Saudi Arabia’s feared religious police arrested an Arab woman claiming she can heal incurable diseases and resurrect the dead.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice decided to trap the woman after receiving reports from many women in the southern Saudi province of Jazan that she extorted money from them through such claims.

Posing as relatives whose uncle is dead, two Commission members went to that woman and asked for help. She then asked them to bring a white goat from their neighboring house and come back quickly.

“She then told them the goat is a reincarnation of their dead relative and that she would resurrect him…when she asked for a large sum of money, they arrested her,” the Arabic language daily Sabq said.
