Saudi surgeon performed an 11-hour successful surgery to stitch back a hand of an Arab expatriate after it was completely severed from the wrist in a work accident.

A joint team of surgeons from the King Fahd and King Saud medical cities in Riyadh performed the operation at King Fahd Hospital in the capital.

“The operation lasted around 11 hours without stop and it was successful…the hand has been restored and the patient can now use it normally,” Sabq daily said, quoting King Saud medical city manager Saleh Al Taimimi.

The paper did not identify the patient or mention how he had lost his hand, which it said was cut off at the wrist.
