24 wives tell court husbands lack intimacy

Twenty four Saudi wives broke the barrier of embarrassment and went to court in separate cases to divulge to the judge that their husbands lack intimacy and do not sleep with them, according to court data.

The cases were recorded during the fasting month of Ramadan and were among 1,377 court cases involving marital problems across the conservative Gulf kingdom.

The figures, published by the Arabic language daily Al Sharq, showed most of those cases were filed by wives demanding divorce, child custody and alimony. The report said these cases alone stood at 1,031.

“There were also 24 cases involving wives who complained to the court that their husbands lack intimacy and do not sleep with them,” the paper said.
