A prominent Saudi Islamic scholar slammed the satellite TV news channel Alarabiya for recruiting beautiful female presenters, who he said appear on screen with too much make up.
Sheikh Mohammed Al Areefi said he had met an official from the Saudi TV channel and complained to him about the showing of those presenters.
“His response was that a senior official, who he named, selects only pretty female presenters and orders them to exaggerate in showing their beauty on screen,” Sheikh Mohammed wrote on his Twitter page.
“I told him that this is not right……he said he could not do anything about because the official in charge chooses those presenters and give them instructions to ensure their beauty is underscored on screen.”
Sheikh Areefi also strongly criticized the bold Lebanese TV channel, LBC, branding it as a “channel of lust.”
