A Saudi university student walking back home from mid-year examinations with his friend felt no desire to watch a road crash that attracted a large crowd but his friend insisted they have a look.
When he came close to the body lying in the middle of the road, he was stunned to see the dead man was his father.
The student had just been seen off by his 48-year old father at home before heading for the university in the western Saudi Red Sea port of Jeddah.
Newspapers said the father, a policeman, was crossing the road towards the shop on the other side when he was knocked over by a speeding car.
“When he saw his dead father, the student went into a hysterical state of weeping…he was calmed down by friends and other people and taken home,” Sabq daily said.
