Boy survives 1,200m plunge... dad, sister die

An eight-year-old Saudi boy escaped with medium injuries but his little sister and father were killed after their car plunged nearly 1,200 metres into an abyss in the Gulf Kingdom, a newspaper reported on Monday.

The vehicle rolled down after the father lost control of the car in a rugged mountainous area in the southern province of Assir near the border with Yemen, the Arabic language daily Okaz said.

“It took the civil defence nearly three hours to pluck the father and his two children out of the valley,” the paper said.

“His four-year-old daughter was dead while the father died on the way to hospital…the boy suffered from medium injuries and was hospitalised.”
