A Saudi court divorced a local man from his wife for what it described as his unqualified tribal relationship to her although they have two children, a newspaper in the Gulf Kingdom reported on Tuesday.
Relatives of the wife raided the couple's house and beat the husband up before forcing the woman to go with them despite approval of the marriage by her father and other family members, Sharq Arabic language daily said.
The relatives, including half brothers, took the woman to their house and filed a divorce case against the husband, the paper said.
"The case had been in court for while before it decided to divorce the husband from his wife for his unqualified tribal relationship to his wife," it said.
"He sought help from several officials and other parties but they could not do anything….the husband has now complained to the human rights groups in Saudi Arabia to reverse the court sentence….he said his wife wants to return to him so they will look after their sons aged three and five years."
