Crippled man crawls daily to the mosque for past 65 years

In a remote tiny village in Saudi Arabia, an old crippled man crawling to the nearby mosque has been the most familiar scene. Some of those who have watched that man have died as he is now nearly 76.

Since he was a little boy, Abdullah Al Asiri has never missed his daily prayers and insists on performing it at the mosque despite his handicap.

Asiri was born handicapped in a family of 10, including his parents, three brothers and four sisters. His brothers, sisters, sisters in law and his many nephews and nieces have been looking after him through his life.

Asiri has crawled to and from the mosque in his southern village of Alaziza five times a day for nearly 65 years, defying the scorching desert summer heat and the pinching cold weather in winter.

His nephew Abdul Aziz said he had shot a film of his uncle to “underscore his perseverance, determination and strength.”

He said the film, published in Sabq Arabic language daily, has so far been viewed by at least 600,000 people.

Why couldn't someone help him out and give a wheelchair or a ride. Or make a house in the mosque? May allah reward him. Inshallah.

Allah-o-Akbar Allah-o-Akbar....brother that old man tested the sweetness of prayer, that is why he likes to pray in the mosque. We young people wasting our time watching football and talking nonsense, and not praying in mosque. May Allah guide us to the right path. The first thing Allah will ask is about prayer on the Day of Judgement.

ALLAH HO AKBAR - this is an example for us who are quite well but avoid going to mosque for our prayers. May Allah give him more courage for life.

@Maryam, what makes you think that muslims in the West pray less than others? Please don't pass judgemental statements. There is a big difference in preach and practise. Just because there is more preach here, doesn't mean people pray more also.

Mashallah, this is a great example for all the muslims who do not pray at the mosque. This is the message for a lot of Muslims in the West and I ask everyone to spread this film on social networks all over the world. May Allah reward this man with jennet al firdous, ameen.

Masha Allah, Masha Allah! He really taste the sweetness of faith in this life. Look at his face how bright and happy. His heart is attached to the Masjid and the closeness to Allah shows in his face. Those who taste sweetness of faith in this life, will taste it in the Hereafter in Paradise. I was happy to watch such video and pray for Jennat-ul Firdous for this brother. May Allah bless you, Ameen

This is inspiration and motivation like no other. this is nothing but true love for Allah's obedience and the love of Nabi Muhammed Saw who said in a hadeeth to this effect "if u had to know the reward of making salat in jamah u would crawl to the masjid"

That is beauty of ISLAM. ALLAH IS GREAT.

Insha Allah, he will have a reserved place in jannat (heaven)... by reading this, I am feeling very disappointed with myself that despite being healthy, I missed so many namaz (prayers) in my 28 years of life. A man like him with such pure dedication towards Allah is an inspiration for us all. Insha Allah we should all pray and beg Allah to guide us all towards the right path. Ameen
