A Filipino in Saudi Arabia died nearly three months after converting to Islam but it was not clear if he would be buried in the Gulf Kingdom.
Ismail, previously known as Hector, converted to Islam just as he was around 60 years old after attending Islamic lessons in Riyadh, where he had worked.
“Hector embraced Islam nearly three months ago and started to pray every day…he also fasted all Ramadan before he died three days ago,” the Saudi Arabic language daily Sabq said on Thursday.
“Many colleagues and officials from the Islamic Guidance Centre in Riyadh performed prayers for him yesterday.”
