A Saudi female school teacher wanted to show gratitude for her husband for supporting her, so she gifted him a new car and a sum of SR50,000 ($13,300) on his retirement day. But instead of reciprocating, the husband hit back by getting a second wife.
Salma Alhanyan said she had thought of giving her husband a good present to mark his retirement in recognition of his support for her while she was studying and when she sought a teaching job.
“She said she also appreciated her husband’s patience while she was away after she was transferred to another school in a remote village…so she bought him a car and gave him SR50,000,” Sabq daily said in a report from the central town of Buraidah.
“Four months later, the teacher found herself in a very awkward position when she learned that her husband, instead of showing gratitude, married another woman.”
But the paper said the unnamed husband did show gratitude albeit in his own way when he texted love words to his wife.
“Dear wife…I really appreciate your support but circumstances pushed me to marry again…yet, you will remain the first and the last woman in my heart,” the paper said.
