Gulf actors arrested in action in Saudi

Saudi Arabia’s feared religious police swooped on a TV filming site in the Gulf kingdom and arrested several actors while they were shooting an episode for Ramadan.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice said they rounded up the actors and actresses from the UAE, Oman and Saudi Arabia because they were acting together in violation of local laws which ban gender mixing.

Sharq newspaper said the members ignored a permit issued by the Saudi information ministry for the TV team to shoot the episode at a shopping mall in the Saudi capital Riyadh. The paper gave no other details.
