Housemaid runs amok... employer wants her out

An Ethiopian housemaid working for a Saudi family went to the kitchen and got a cleaver, then hurried to the bathroom and locked herself in before she started to sing loudly in an incomprehensible language. Panicked by her act, the family called the police, who came and smashed the bathroom door.

But police told her employer they would not charge her and that he is responsible for her, according to the Arabic language daily Sabq.

“She frightened my family…her behavior was very strange and we do not know why she is doing this,” Musleh Al Shammari said.

“I will deport her because we cannot let her live with us while she behaves strangely…my family members are frightened as she seems to be dangerous.”

Shammari said the maid had worked for his sister in the southern town of Bashaer for nearly six months and that she was behaving well. “I don’t know what happened to her.”
