Hug lands man in jail, girl escapes

A Saudi man who had apparently known the risks of hugging his girl friend in a public place could not help it and went ahead with it. Moments after the hug, the Gulf Kingdom’s Islamic police were on him.

The girl managed to run away when she saw several members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice rushing towards her. Her boy friend was not equally lucky.

“They arrested him for committing an obscene act in public but the girl managed to flee….they also found obscene pictures in his mobile phone,” Kabar Arabic language daily said in a report from the eastern town of Dhahran.

@Sarah - you can go to jail for eating lunch with a male co-worker if you are not married or related. So YEAH a hug? Definitely. Apparently it is obscene.
