King Salman bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia told citizens to write to him if they feel they have not been treated fairly by the government.

“Any citizen who feels he was not treated fairly can write to me…send us complaints by e-mail or free post (at our expense),” he said, according to Saudi newspapers.

“All post office employees must accept these complaints and convey them even if they are against my own sons, grandchildren or family…let all those employees know that anyone who tries to discourage citizens from sending complaints or even tries to tone it down no matter how small it is, he will be subject to severe punishment.”

The papers also quoted the King as saying: “I don’t want in my life to hear that a citizen has been oppressed…I just don’t want God the Almighty to hold me responsible for an oppressed one or punish me for failing to help him.”
