Imam held for harassing girl

Saudi Arabia’s feared Islamic police arrested an Arab mosque Imam (chief) for trying to blackmail a school girl to force her to sleep with him, a newspaper in the Gulf kingdom reported on Saturday.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice seized the Imam, who also works as a driver of a school bus in the northern Saudi town of Qurayat, the Arabic language daily 'Al Riyadh' said.

“They found obscene pictures in his mobile and text messages addressed to that girl threatening to publicise her photographs online unless she sleeps with him.

The paper said the unnamed girl had informed the Commission about the Imam, who also threatened to send the pictures to her family.
