Indebted man saved from suicide

A Saudi man reeling under heavy debt went up on top of a high-rise building under construction and threatened to throw himself down unless his debt is cleared, a newspaper reported on Thursday.

A large crowd gathered near the building in the northwestern town of Tabuk near the border with Jordan as a special police unit arrived and started negotiating with the man to dissuade him from committing suicide.

“In the end, the police succeeded in persuading the man not to kill himself….he was taken to the armed forces hospital for examination,” Kabar Arabic language daily said without making clear if the police promised to settle the man’s debt.
