Iraqi woman gives birth to quintuplets

An Iraqi woman who lost her husband and married his brother more than a year ago gave birth to quintuplets and named them after The Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him) and the four Islamic Caliphs, newspapers reported on Wednesday.

The woman had a normal delivery at Kirkuk Hospital in Iraq’s Kurdistan and the five boys and their mother are in good health, the hospital director Karim Waliy said.

“This is a very rare case which has not been recorded in Kirkuk hospitals for tens of years,” he said, quoted by Iraqi newspapers.

Their father Yousuf Ibrahim, a construction worker, said he decided to name the boys Mohammed, Abu Bakr, Omar, Othman and Ali.

Newspapers said the woman lost her husband in the war nearly 18 months ago and married his brother Yousuf.
