A Pakistani man thought by his family to have died in Saudi Arabia nearly 10 years ago knocked at the door of his house in Pakistan and walked in as his family stared in disbelief, thinking he was a ghost.

The 48-year-old man had travelled to Saudi Arabia more than 25 years ago and had been in touch with his family only for a few months before they lost contact. Nearly 15 years later, his family was told by friends the man died in the Gulf Kingdom and was buried in the western Red Sea port of Jeddah.

“His family then lived on that assumption until he came back last week and knocked at the door…..his elder sister immediately recognized him and fell unconscious while other members of the family remained under shock as he walked in,” the Saudi Arabic language daily Sabq said in a report from Jeddah.

“According to relatives in Saudi Arabia, the news of the man’s return spread through his village quickly while some Pakistani newspapers reported the incident…his relatives and friends are planning to hold a big party for him on Friday,” the paper said without mentioning the man’s village.

Dating Casanova meets police instead of girl

A Saudi man who knew a local girl through Facebook insisted on dating her or he would publicize her pictures. When he came to the agreed place at her own house, he found police not the girl waiting for him.

The man from the western town of Makkah had first introduced himself as a girl who wants to make friendship with other girls and ensuing contacts went on for weeks, during which the victim was asked to send her photographs.

“When he got the photographs, he told her he is a man and asked her to meet him or he would publicize her photos on Facebook,” Altaif daily said.

It said the girl then told her father, who reported the man to the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.

“They asked her to agree to the date and she told the man to meet her at her house, pretending that her family was out…once he came to her house, the man found Commission members waiting for him.”
