New flower named after Qatar’s first lady

Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani named a new flower produced in his gas-rich Gulf country after his wife, Moza, newspapers said on Wednesday.

Sheikh Hamad named the flower after opening a rose show by a new flower producing company, Rosa Hassad (harvest) in Doha. His wife Moza was with him at the show which included over 17 types of flowers and roses.

“The Emir decided to give Moza’s name to a new type of flower produced by Rosa Hassad,” the Qatari news agency said.

“With this new name, the flower has become a registered brand and an authorized name across the world.”
