Over 155,000 traffic tickets issued by Dubai police

Police stations in Dubai issued more than 155,000 traffic tickets in the first half of 2012, a daily6 average of 861 offences, according to a senior police officer.

Nearly 69,000 of the offences involved drivers and other road users responsible for accidents while nearly 25,000 tickets were issued for other offences in the presence of offenders and the rest were issued in their absence.

Nearly a fifth of the total offences were committed in Nayef area, whose police station issued over 33,100 tickets during that period, said Colonel Mohammed Abdul Razzak, deputy director of the criminal investigation department.

Around 23,000 tickets were issued by Bur Dubai police stations, 20,500 by Muraqabat police stations and the rest in Qusais, Rafaa, Hatta, Jebel Ali and other areas, he told the Arabic language daily Albayan.

“During the first half of this year, non-traffic police stations issued a total of 155,084 traffic tickets, including 69,105 to those who caused accidents.”
