In yet another accident involving an airline, an aircraft belonging to Pakistani private carrier Shaheen Air made an emergency landing and avoided a crash on Tuesday afternoon at Lahore airport.

Carrying 172 passengers, the aircraft’s front-wheel axle broke on landing, veering off the runway and stopping on a grassy area. The flight was coming from Karachi.

An emergency was declared at the Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport with fire-fighting and other civil defence vehicles rushing to the runway.

Actor Imran Arooj, who was on the flight, commended the pilot as he sensed the danger by taking immediate action and managing to stop the aircraft near the runway.
All the passengers were safe.

Passengers complain

Arooj told Dunya news channel that the airline’s staff didn’t turn up even after the emergency landing.

Meanwhile, a number of passengers who flew with Shaheen Air in the last couple of weeks have been complaining about their luggage being left behind at Dubai airport.

“We went from Dubai to Lahore on December 19; but when we reached at Lahore airport we were told that our luggage has not come and will reach in the next couple of days. It was not just us but most of the passengers were told the same thing,” said passenger R. Noor  who flew with her two children from Dubai to Lahore.

The luggage, she said, was delivered after one week.

“The passengers shouted at the airline staff, complaining that many of them had come to Pakistan for just a couple of days. They urged the government to take action against the airline,” she said.
