Saudi Arabia’s official anti-corruption body has been criticized for the alleged spending of nearly SR20,000(Dh20,000) on coffee for guests at a seminar it had organized.

Local newspapers have slammed Nazaha (sincerity) for paying that sum just for coffee while it is supposed to be hunting for financial malpractices in the world’s dominant oil exporter and largest Arab economy.

In a quick reaction to the criticism, Nazaha denied the report and said the sum was spent not only on coffee but on breakfast and hospitality for the guests.

“The sum we spent was not only on coffee but on breakfast and hospitality arrangements for the seminar guests...newspapers should be careful when handling such matters as they could negatively affect our employees,” Nazaha’s chairman Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Shareef told the Saudi MBC satellite TV channel.
