Saudi boy gets Aids after treatment for road injury

A 15-year-old Saudi boy was infected with Aids after receiving blood from a hospital where he was admitted with injuries he suffered in a road accident. Mahli Al Shammari had his leg amputated in a surgery after the accident in the southern town of Hail, according to Al Madina newspaper.

“His family said he had received treatment at three hospitals so they cannot determine where he got the contaminated blood,” it said. It quoted health officials as saying they are investigating the case to determine responsibility.
