Saudi child dies after locking herself up in car

A three-year-old Saudi girl died after she accidentally locked herself up in her father’s car for several hours in scorching heat before she was discovered by her family.

The girl was playing near the car parked just outside her house in the southern Saudi province of Asir when she found that the doors were open.

“She opened a door, got in and then locked it…the car was automatically locked and the girl could not get out,” Okaz daily said.

It said her father later found her unconscious in the car and rushed her to hospital but that she died on the way.
