Saudi men have been found to be happier than women while married people also outstripped bachelors in the happiness index.

A survey conducted by a local Saudi research centre showed 68 per cent of the men polled were found to be happy while 57 per cent of the polled women were happy.

The survey, published in Sabq newspaper, also showed married persons are happier than bachelors with a ratio of 68 to 48 per cent respectively.

Sabq said the poll was conducted by a medical team at the King Saud University in the capital Riyadh, headed by Dr Abdullah Al Subaei.

It quoted Subaei as saying:”What is interesting is that the survey found that the TV role in getting family members together has largely receded as it accounted for only six per cent while meals accounted for 81 percent.”
