Shepherd found hanging by tree in Saudi desert

A Saudi farmer got the shock of his life when he headed for his camel farm to find his Sudanese shepherd hanging by the tree in the middle of the desert.

The farmer had thought the shepherd had climbed up the tree to watch his camels pasturing on the few green plants defying the arid sandy area and surrounding dunes near the central Saudi town of Afif.

Sabq Arabic language newspaper said the employer phoned the police, who rushed to the area and brought the body down.

It said police had opened an investigation into the case to determine the motives that led the unnamed shepherd, in his 30s, to commit a suicide.
