Teacher faces death in Saudi for raping girl

An Egyptian school teacher could be executed in Saudi Arabia after he was arrested for raping a national teenage girl, a newspaper said on Tuesday.

The teacher used Facebook to date the girl, under 15 years, and bring her to his apartment in Riyadh, 'Ajel' Arabic language daily said.

Her family found out that she was raped after she returned home from school with her clothes covered in blood, it said.

The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, the most feared religious body in the conservative Gulf kingdom, arrested the man after they found his mobile number in the girl’s phone book.

“In case the teacher is convicted of raping the teenager, he could be sentenced to death,” the newspaper said.
