Woman kills niece for breaking hookah

A Yemeni woman beat her niece to death with a metal chain after the girl accidentally smashed her aunt’s glass hookah.

Newspaper said Lamya Ali, 10, screamed for help before she collapsed on the floor at her aunt’s house in the southern port of Aden.

Two men who were passing in that area rushed into the house and found the girl lying motionless on the floor while her shocked aunt was staring at her body.

The report said the woman told them that she hit her niece with the chain to punish her for breaking her hookah but that she did not mean to kill her.
