Woman scavenges for food in Saudi [video]

A Saudi newspaper on Sunday published a film showing a woman scavenging for food inside a public waste bin in the world’s largest oil exporter.

The Arabic language daily 'Sada' published another YouTube film showing large quantities of food left over from a mass iftar (Ramadan evening meal) being thrown away.

The first film showed a woman, wearing a face veil and a black Arabian abaya (gown), searching for food inside a public waste bin before she apparently found something.

Sada said the film was captured by a Saudi man “who was touched by the scene” as he was passing in that area in the Western town of Medinah.

“In contrast, the second film shows that large quantities of food are being thrown into the garbage during Ramadan,” the paper said.
