Worker killed in crane collapse in Saudi

A Pakistani construction worker was killed when a crane collapsed on him from the 25th level in a building under construction in Saudi Arabia.

The crane was moving blocks to the 25th level in the building in the Western town of Makkah when it collapsed, ‘Ajel’ newspaper said.

It quoted police as saying the worker, who was operating the crane, died on the spot after the edge of the crane and large blocks fell on him.

Man crushed to death inside cement-mixer machine

A Yemeni construction worker in Saudi Arabia was crushed to death inside a cement-mixer machine while he was trying to clean it.

The worker, who was not named, lost his balance and fell into the 2x3 metre rotating machine while it was in operation at a construction site at the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah, ‘Sada’ Arabic language daily said.

“Civil defence men who were called to the scene plucked the man out but he was already dead,” the paper said.
