A member of Saudi Arabia’s ruling family is offering $one million for any Palestinian who captures an Israeli soldier and get more Palestinians out of Israeli prisons, Saudi newspapers reported on Tuesday.
Prince Khaled bin Talal, brother of the well known Saudi billionaire Prince Al Waleed bin Talal, said he was reacting to a recent offer by a Saudi Muslim scholar to award $100,000 to any Palestinian who captures one Israeli soldier.
Sheikh Awad Al Qarni offered the $100,000 last week in response to a similar prize announced by an Israeli family to any Israeli who kills one of the Palestinian fighters involved in the killing of one of its members in 1998.
The offer followed a landmark prisoner exchange between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas group last month.
Soon after Qarni announced the prize, an Israeli group said it would award $1 million to any one who kills the Sheikh.
“To Sheikh Qarni I say…I will add $900,000 to your offer as an expression of solidarity with you…this means any Palestinian who captures one Israeli soldier to free more Palestinians from Israeli jails will get $one million,” Prince Khaled said, quoted by Saudi newspapers on Tuesday.
