A raid on a shopping mall resulted in the arrest of 119 violators of the residency law who were working there for daily wages.

Lieutenant Colonel Khalaf Ahmad Al Ghaith, Deputy Director for Investigation and Violators Follow Up at the Dubai Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department, said they received a tip-off about a group of women staying in the UAE illegally and working in a mall.

After investigation, a trap was set for these women and they were all arrested upon their arrival at the mall.

"Those who shelter or employ an infiltrator will be slapped with a Dh100,000 fine and a minimum of two months in prison, while residents who hire an illegal employee or let the people sponsored by them work for others will face punishment and a fine of Dh50,000," he said.
