Colombo: A high court judge in Sri Lanka allegedly threw hot coffee on a differently-abled person.

SM Wasantha, 42, was admitted to Balapitiya Base Hospital on Tuesday with burn injuries, after hot coffee was thrown at him.

According to the victim, he was just helping his friend – a waiter at a restaurant.

Local media reported that the unfortunate incident happened when he visited the restaurant to buy something and his friend, who was busy serving other customers, asked him to deliver food to a family waiting in their car outside.

"First I took a parcel of food to the vehicle at the request of my friend. Then I was asked to bring three cups of tea and a cup of coffee. I did so. I saw the woman take a sip from the cup of coffee and pass it on to the judge. After that, the judge threw the content of the cup at me," the victim alleged.

He claimed there were four people, including two police officers and the wife and child of the judge in the vehicle.
