The Wildlife Conservation Department of Sri Lanka has succeeded in capturing a monkey which had attacked a student of Thurstan College on Thursday, July 17.

Lakshman Gunatilake, Vice-Principal of Thurstan College, said the monkey, which was hanging around the Grades Six and Seven classes, jumped over the school wall and chased the student to attack him.

He said that students of Thurstan College and Royal College were attacked earlier by the monkey.

Gunatilake said there were several of them living on trees in the vicinity of the schools while the wildlife officers managed to capture most of them.

The injured student was admitted to the Lady Ridgeway Hospital.
