Mother poisons 3 kids, attempts suicide

A 28-year-old Sri Lankan mother from the Weerapokuna area in Bingiriya, Chilaw, (Sri Lanka) has been admitted to the Chilaw General Hospital in serious condition on Tuesday (Sept 30) after attempting to commit suicide and poisoning to her three kids, ‘Divaina’ reported.

Police said two of the kids were her daughters aged seven and one, and the other was her son aged five.

The police said that they were yet to ascertain the motive behind the suicidal attempt.

Bingiriya police are conducting investigations.

TRADER RAPES MINOR:

Meanwhile, the local media (In Sri Lanka) reported that a 53-year-old trader had been arrested on suspicion for raping an 11-yr-old minor girl.

The suspect had taken the girl, on her way back home from school, on his bicycle for several days and thereafter, on the day of the incident, he had taken her to an abandoned place and raped her, police said.

Her mother had lodged a complaint at the police and the suspect was said to be a father of two from Gurugoda area in Kobeigane.

The victim has been admitted to the hospital for a medical examination while Kobeigane police continue their investigations.
