Youth takes girlfriend on bike, rapes, flees

A 24-year-old youth has been arrested in Sri Lanka on suspicion of raping his 17-year-old girlfriend, along with two other youths on June 9, ‘Lanka Hot News’ has reported.

The suspects from Puttalam are between 19 and 21 years of age and the victim a resident of Bodhirajapura in Kaladiya, police said.

When the girl was returning after attending  a class at a private computer institute, her boyfriend took her on his motorbike to an isolated coconut grove in Seguwanthive where he had raped her while the other two suspects videoed the scene with their mobile phone secretly.

When the other youths threatened the girl and her boyfriend that they would release the pictures on the Internet, the boyfriend fled the place leaving the girlfriend behind. She told the police that the two youths had raped her more than ten times.

Police said the victim, who was in a serious condition, has been admitted to the Puttalam Hospital.

All three suspects are due to be produced before the Puttalam judiciary.
