UAE petrol pump closed, 15 cars filled with diesel

A fuel station in Al Ain was closed after one of its reservoirs were filled with diesel instead of petrol and 15 petrol car engines were ruined after they were refuelled with diesel.

According to a report in Al Ittihad newspaper, it was a case of human error and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) closed the station after the mistake came to light.

The company released a statement on Wednesday saying that a human mistake was responsible for the incident that took place at Al Yahar petrol station in Al Ain on Tuesday night.

The company added: “It is a very rare event in the company since its establishment, but we are taking all the responsibility towards the clients."

Adnoc got in touch with the owners of the damaged vehicles and asked them to rent cars at the company's expense till the completion of the car repair. The firm added that the repair work should not take more than an hour.
