Why woman doing 200kmph in Dubai let off

Published

Dubai cops chased a woman driving as fast as 200kmph and dangerously overtaking other vehicles on hard shoulders.

After intercepting the car, they fined her, but let her go after she told them her mother was ill.

Police said the unnamed woman responded arrogantly when they asked why she was driving recklessly, but they decided to set her free to look after her mother although her driving could have caused a disaster.

Police spotted the woman driving from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed motorway towards Al Khawaneej after they were called by shocked drivers overtaken by that car on the hard shoulder.

Motorists reported the woman was dangerously jumping from one lane to another, causing panic and confusion among road users.

“She was caught driving at more than 200kmph and she nearly hit the steel barrier in the middle of Khawaneej road.

“The driver caused panic and confusion on the road and police noticed that the car was slowing down each time it comes near a speed camera,” Dubai Traffic Police Chief Major General Mohammed Al Zafin said.

“When police patrols stopped her, she dealt with them arrogantly.

“She admitted she was driving fast because she was rushing home to take her ill mother to the hospital.

“Police men took her circumstances into consideration so they handed her speeding tickets and asked her to report to the traffic department on the next day before letting her go.

“The way this woman drove her car could have caused a disaster,” he told the Dubai-based Arabic language daily Emarat Al Youm.
