60 flights delayed at Delhi airport

At least 60 flights at the T3 terminal of Delhi's Indira Gandhi International airport are running late.
 
According to Indian press reports, the computerized check-in system has run in to technical problems, so passengers are being checked in manually.
 
Airport officials say all flights - domestic and international - are running about 30 minutes late for now.


Major Airlines operating flights to New Delhi, India from the UAE said their flights are as per schedule as they expect the security breach that occurred in the Indian capital will be resolved by evening.

“Most of the flights from Dubai to New Delhi are at night. So far we have not changed our regular flights schedule. As of now, everything is normal,” said an airline source. Abhay Pathak, Regional Manager for Gulf, Air India said the incidents in New Delhi will not have any impact on the flight operations from the UAE. “No impact, we are as per schedule. Most of our Delhi flights are at night,” Pathak told Emirates 24|7.

Apart from Emirats, Air India, most of the regional airlines from Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia operate to Delhi’s  International  Airport.

King Fisher, Emirates Airlines and Jet Airways also operate flights to Delhi. “As of now there is no change in our flights plan. We are also watching the situation."

Terminal 3 of the International Airport in Delhi is one of the busiest, handling more than 34 million passengers per year and several high tech features including 94 emigration counters. It’s Baggage Handling System can handle 12,800 bags per hour 6 Common check-in islands -168 check-in counters. Emirates operates the the world's largest passenger aircraft, the A380, to Terminal 3 at Delhi's Indira Gandhi Airport. This is the only Indian airport that can receive A 380 aircraft.

Jet Airways Spokesperson, said : “There was no disruption of our services .There was just some systems failure in the morning, but there was no major disruption for our flights. There is no cancellation or rescheduling of flights from Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Doha.  It is one of the normal things. Jet Airways flights operate Delhi International Airport Terminal 3.
