Don’t expect to find the US President’s daughters on facebook anytime soon.

President Barack Obama says in an interview with ‘People Magazine’ that he does not let his daughters, 13-year-old Malia and 10-year-old Sasha, use the popular social networking website.

Obama says they would not want to have a lot of people they don’t know knowing their business. Obama said it “does not make much sense” to put the most private details of his family life on public view.

Obama said he won’t consider allowing them to join the site until they are both four years older.

It must be noted that Obama is the first US President in history to milk the online social media for all its worth during his successful presidential campaign, making full use of facebook and other websites to encourage young voters and raise millions of dollars for his campaign.

In fact he is known as the ‘First Social Media President’ for that very reason. His facebook page – which has 24 million ‘likes’ – remains a key part of his ongoing efforts to seek re-election to the White House.

The President and First Lady Michelle Obama told the magazine their favourite TV shows. Mrs. Obama and the girls like ABC’s ‘Modern Family.’ The President enjoys HBO’s ‘Boardwalk Empire’ and Showtime’s ‘Homeland.’
