UAE Weather: Cloudy, hazy with a chance of rain

Dusty, hazy weather swept across parts of the UAE on Sunday morning, with the country’s weather bureau forecasting light rainfall over the following two days.

Residents woke up to increased cloud cover, with blowing sand and dust over scattered areas hindering with visibility in parts.

The National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said: “Cloud amounts will increase by afternoon over scattered areas, with a probability of some convective clouds over the mountains especially the southern mountains.

"Light to moderate winds in general, fresh at times, will cause blowing dust over exposed areas. Sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea."

The sluggish climes will continue into Monday and Tuesday, with the NCMS forecasting a "probability of some rain" over the next 48 hours.

It said: "On Monday, the amount of cloud cover will increase over scattered areas, especially the southern and eastern parts, with a probability of some rain.

"Moderate winds in general, fresh at times, will cause blowing dust over exposed areas. Sea will be moderate in the Arabian Gulf, and slight to moderate in Oman Sea."

The weather will remain stet on Tuesday as well, will a marine warning also in place, with the NCMS stating: "The sea will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate in Oman Sea."

Neighbouring Oman has also issued a similar weather forecast, stating "the presence of low clouds on the southeast, central and Dhofar region will give chance for rain."

The weather pattern is predicted for during Sunday and Monday.
