The Yemeni government is sincere to render the peace talks expected in Kuwait on 18th April a success, a top government official affirmed.

"Out of its commitment to achieving peace, the Government of Yemen will respect the ceasefire as of 10th April," Yemen's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Abdul Malik Mekhlafi, told Matthew Tueller, US Ambassador to Yemen, during a meeting in Saudi capital, Riyadh.

Mekhlafi emphasised the need for the rebel Houthi-Saleh militias to comply with the agreement.

"The government delegation is ready for peace negotiations in Kuwait and is co-operating positively with the UN Special Envoy for Yemen and the international community for the sake of realising peace and restoring legitimacy as well as implementing the UN Security Council Resolution 2216 and pursuing the political process in line with the GCC Initiative and outcome of the National Dialogue," Yemeni official News Agency quoted the minister as saying.

The US Ambassador said his government stands with the Yemeni government in implementing the UNSC Resolution and backs its efforts to reinstate the state and achieve peace.

According to him, the United States and the international community support the expected peace talks in Kuwait next month.
