NRI kills 'westernised' pregnant wife

ROME: An Indian man living in Italy killed his pregnant wife for wearing western clothes.

The husband felt his wife was going againt Indian tradition and did not like it, according to a report by news agency IANS.

The man strangled his wife in cold blood and threw her body in Po river. The incident came to light after her body was discovered floating in the river about 153 days after she went missing.

The couple have a five year old boy. The woman was about three months pregnant with their second child when she died, according to the PiacenzaSera news website.

The woman's father had reported her missing. Her husband had simply claimed that she had deserted him as she did not want to live with him. However, after her body was found, he confessed to killing her.


Little girl killed after falling in manhole

SAUDI ARABIA: An eight-year-old Saudi girl died after she plunged into an uncovered manhole while returning home from school in the Gulf kingdom.
Civil defence units plucked out the body from the deep sewage pit in Riyadh and its officials described the incident as an accidental killing.

“The Civil Defence decided to refer the case to the police as an accidental killing resulting from negligence by those in charge of the sewage utilities,” the Saudi Sabq Arabic language daily said.

It quoted a senior police officer as saying the company in charge of that manhole would be investigated and punished if proved responsible for the tragedy. 

 

New born baby found inside mosque

SAUDI ARABIA: Muslims going into a mosque for evening prayers in Saudi Arabia stumbled across a new born baby placed inside a bag.

Scores of residents in a neighborhood in the northwestern town of Tabuk were about to kneel down for prayers when they noticed the bag in the corner.

“They found a baby inside it aged not more than seven hours…they phoned the police who transferred the boy to hospital,” Alsaudeh daily said.
