Crazy World: Family lives in loo to school son

Published

CHINA: A 33-year-old father moved his family from a proper home to a queen-size bed inside a public toilet in the belief that such a move would help his son to receive better education in a public school.

The man has also swapped his job of running a store for cleaning public toilet. Now, his wife and son will be living with him in an attic above the public toilet.

The teen son is not bothered by the move. He is happy as long as he gets a place to sleep, reports Asia One.

Real-life sleeping beauty sleeps for 64 days

PITTSBURGH: A 17-year-old girl slept missed Thanksgiving and Christmas one year as she simply slept through them. Suffering from a rare sleep disorder, known as Kleine-Levine, she has created a record of sorts by sleeping for 64 days.

On an average, the teenager is known to sleep for 18-19 hours, reports a website based in Pittsburgh.

During these spells, she gets up and in a kind of sleepwalking state she eats and visits the bathroom and goes back to sleep. The sleeping beauty disease is generally known to affect adolescents.

The family wants to generate awareness among people about this kind of illness.

The teenager's last sleeping episode was in March and she is scared for the next one.

Mom prayed her son would kill self

US: The mother of one of Columbine High School massacre gunman Dylan Klebold says she prayed that her son would kill himself.

The Denver Post reports Saturday that Sue Klebold made her statement in a new book titled: "Far From the Tree: Parents, Children, and the Search for Identity."

In a chapter about crime, author Andrew Solomon examines how parents of criminals find themselves "morally diminished."

Sue Klebold told Solomon that, "I saw the end product of my life's work: I had created a monster."

Twelve students and a teacher died at the school on April 20, 1999, before Klebold and Eric Harris committed suicide.

Sue Klebold says she held out hope that her son had not killed anyone before a sheriff's report documented that he did. (AP)

Man torches woman, 73, in elevator

NEW YORK: A New York City man has pleaded guilty to fatally burning an elderly woman inside the elevator of her apartment building.

Prosecutors announced Wednesday that Jerome Isaac had pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, arson and torture in the December 2011 death of Deloris Gillespie in Brooklyn.

The plea bargain calls a sentence of 50 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Isaac attacked the 73-year-old woman because he believed she owed him money. They say he doused her with gasoline, lit her on fire and then threw a firebomb inside the elevator.

The attack was recorded on a security camera.

Isaac is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 30. (AP)
