Man killed in fight over 'parantha'

NEW DELHI: An engineer was killed by four highly educated men at a roadside eating joint near a posh South Delhi colony, CR Park, over paranthas (Indian bread), reports The Times of India (https://bit.ly/rCTeeC).

The killers were no goons, but well educated, one of them even studied in Australia while another one was a science graduate at a Delhi College.

The victim and his friend had gone to the eatery to have late dinner. Another group of men arrived and ordered the eatery owner to be served first. A fight broke out between the two groups on who would be served first. Police officers on patrol broke the fight.

However, the group of four returned at the cafe a little later armed with sharp knives and killed the engineer from Kolkata at the spot. The victim's friend is fighting for his life at a trauma centre in Delhi.

421 coins, bolts recovered from man's stomach

INDIA: A man who was suffering from acute abdominal pain recently underwent surgery in the Indian state of Chhatisgarh. Doctors were astounded to find 6kgs worth of coins, bolts, nuts, keys and other metallic objects from his stomach, reports Hindustan Times (https://bit.ly/rQfeEZ).

Doctors could only see some intestinal blockage and a few lumps in the stomach after doing an X-ray and hence they decided to operate on him.

They removed 421 coins, 197 fishnet pellets, three keys and 19 bolts of bicycle chain in a three-hour operation, according to the daily.

The man is suffering from a psychological or eating disorder which led to his swaloowing of non-nutritional objects. His family was not aware of his penchant for eating iron objects.

However, the doctors said that the man was lucky that the rusted objects did not fatally harm his stomach or food pipe.

Gun club lets children hold high-powered guns while posing for Christmas pictures

US: In Arizona, children and parents have got an opportunity to pose for Christmas pictures with a difference. A local gun club has organised an event where the local residents get to pose with Santa and to make matters more interesting, they also get to hold machine guns during the 'shoot'. Even toddlers are allowed to cling on to the firearms, according to a blog (https://yhoo.it/sZlpIp).

The organisers say their event has attracted a lot of people, says the website.

On the club website, the organisers have advertised their event as "a one-of-a-kind opportunity to be photographed next to Santa while against a backdrop of a stunning $80,000 Garwood mini-gun and SGC's coolest belt fed machine guns including the M60, M249 and M240."

Another ad on the club's website reads: "Santa's Back With His Bag Of goodies. Get Your Holiday Picture With Santa & His Machine Guns!"

A heartbroken New York City man is desperately searching for his opera-singing parrot.

Captain, a 25-year-old green and yellow Amazon parrot, flew off Allen Kirson's shoulder as they went biking in Brooklyn on the day after Thanksgiving.

The New York Post (https://nyp.st/t8DUOT) says the talented bird who "loves to sing opera" has performed at senior citizen homes and children's hospitals.

Kirson says Captain also dances, and has a big vocabulary.
