A sheep was born in Saudi Arabia with a crown-like fleece on the top of its head, prompting the owner to call it “The Queen”. Two days after its birth, the farmer received an offer from a buyer of SR15,000 (Dh14,800).

“I was surprised when I saw the baby sheep…it has a fleece crown on its head, the first time I see such thing,” its owner, Abdul Maghni Al Mahmadi said.

“I called it ‘The Queen’ because of this…many people immediately offered to buy it and two days after its birth, the price jumped nearly 45 times to SR15,000…but I refused to sell it,” he told Sabq Arabic language daily.

Mahmadi, who owns a farm in the western Saudi town of Madina, said he would look after the sheep and hopes it will win the next sheep beauty contest, which is held in Saudi Arabia annually.
